Competition Period SwimwearLunafly Racerback
"Swim kit you can wear on your period, no tampon. Designed to keep you in the pool." 3x Olympian and 2x Commonwealth Champion, Hannah Miley MBE
Why you'll love it
WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT
A proper club swim suit you can wear on your period without a tampon. Racerback cut, full compression, leakproof gusset that holds your heaviest training day. Sizes run from junior XXS to adult L, so the same suit fits a first regional gala and an adult Masters session. Elite Athlete Approved. 3x Olympian and 2x Commonwealth Champion, Hannah Miley MBE.
HOW IT WORKS
The outer shell repels pool water so the suit stays light. The gusset holds 20ml of heavy flow, the same as 4 tampons or 3 regular pads. No bulk anywhere on the suit and nothing visible through it.
BEST FOR
Club training, galas, Masters meets, and any session where you'd normally pick a one-piece. Wear it on your heaviest day or your lightest. Note: check your governing body's rules before senior or elite-level competition.
GOOD TO KNOW
Chlorine-resistant recycled nylon (polyamide) with reinforced gusset seams and high visibility neon print. Two seasons of regular club training works out at about £1 per wear, and one suit replaces hundreds of disposable pads or tampons. Hand washing is best and helps preserve the performance fabric. If you machine wash, use a laundry bag on a gentle cycle, though all machine use shortens its life. Rinse cold straight after the pool, no fabric softener, eco laundry detergents only, never tumble dry, always air dry.

"Too many girls quit the sport they love the year their period starts. They shouldn't have to choose."
Hannah swam for Team GB at three Olympics. She co-designed the range so it performs whether you are 11 in your first club season or swimming Masters at 32.

The Lunafly Competition range is new, but WUKA period swimwear is not. Here is what club and competitive swimmers, and their parents, already say.
"She swims competitively and these are perfect for wearing under her training costume. It means there's no interruption with missing training sessions or galas. An absolute godsend."
"My daughter is a competitive swimmer and uses the swim briefs under her training suit. They do not show through and work perfectly. No leakage at all."
"I bought these for my competitive swim daughter, age 12. She can't keep missing training so we gave it a go. Wow was her response after first wear. Felt great, no leaks and rinsed out easily."
"My daughter swims competitively and adores these, it means no more missed training sessions. Super discreet, no one would know they are period-proof swimwear."
"They give her the confidence to go to training lessons or swimming with friends. The longest she wore them was 2 hours on day 2 of her period, so quite heavy, and no leakages at all."
"An absolute lifesaver on holiday. I felt so comfortable and relieved that my period didn't stop me from enjoying the pool. Being able to swim and enjoy time with my family was priceless."

How does a period swimsuit work?
A period swimsuit is two layers of fabric doing two jobs. A water-repellent outer shell stops pool water soaking the suit, while a breathable, leakproof gusset traps period blood underwater. The Lunafly Competition range holds 20ml of heavy flow, equal to 4 tampons or 3 regular pads, no tampon, no pad, no bulk.
Does period swimwear work for heavy flow?
Yes. The Lunafly Competition gusset is engineered for heavy flow. Elite Athlete Approved. 3x Olympian and 2x Commonwealth Champion, Hannah Miley MBE. It holds 20ml, equal to 4 tampons or 3 regular pads.
Can I wear a period swimsuit without a tampon?
Yes, the whole point is you don't need one. The gusset absorbs blood directly, so you can swim, race and train tampon-free. Particularly important for junior swimmers who aren't using tampons yet.
Is the Lunafly Competition range suitable for junior swimmers?
Yes. Every silhouette in the range is sized from junior XXS (age 9+) through to adult L, so the same suit fits a club swimmer at her first regional gala and an adult Masters competitor. The competition cut is identical at every size, elite kit at every age. See the size guide.
Will it fit adult club swimmers?
Yes. Adult sizes S to L are cut to the same compression standard as senior club kit, so adult club swimmers don't have to choose between period protection and a proper training suit. Elite Athlete Approved. 3x Olympian and 2x Commonwealth Champion, Hannah Miley MBE.
How long does period swimwear last?
Looked after, a Lunafly Competition suit lasts roughly two seasons of regular club training, about £1 per wear over its lifespan. Take care to avoid rough surfaces that can damage the performance fabric, and air dry. If you machine wash, use a laundry bag on a gentle cycle, though all machine use shortens the life of a performance product. No softener, eco laundry detergents only. Hand washing will help preserve the fabric. Chlorine-resistant fabric, reinforced seams, recycled nylon.
Can I wear a Lunafly suit on heavy training days?
Yes, this is what it's built for. The gusset holds 20ml of heavy flow, the same as 4 tampons or 3 regular pads. If your flow is exceptionally heavy, swap the suit between morning and evening sessions like you would swap kit normally.
How do you wash a period swimsuit?
Rinse in cold water straight after the pool. Hand washing is best and helps preserve the fabric. If you machine wash, use a laundry bag on a gentle cycle, though all machine use reduces the lifespan of a performance product. No fabric softener, eco laundry detergents only, and always air dry. Avoid rough surfaces that can damage the performance fabric. Full instructions on the wash and care guide.
Is the suit chlorine-resistant?
Yes. The outer shell is engineered for regular chlorinated-pool training. The neon colour holds up because the fabric is dye-locked, not surface-printed.
Can I wear a pad with the Lunafly Competition suit?
You don't need to, and pads aren't designed to work submerged in water anyway. The gusset is the protection.
How is the Lunafly Competition suit different from a tech racing suit?
Tech racing suits are FINA-approved kit built for elite, single-meet competition. They offer zero period protection so you would still need a tampon. The Lunafly Competition suit is built for club training and junior competitions, with full compression plus an integrated leakproof gusset and a water-repellent shell. Lunafly is not FINA-approved, so check your governing body's rules before senior or elite-level meets.
